Highway Aerial Survey

Hunter Aerial Photography Services recently completed an aerial mapping operation capturing a 20 kilometre section of the recently completed Pacific Highway Project from Ewingsdale to Tintinbar. Using our innovative dual camera pods mounted to a Cessna 172 piloted aircraft, vertical images were captured using a normal RGB camera and a Near Infra Red Camera (used for sensing vegetation). The system provides a platform to deliver cost effective and quality aerial imagery and data using photogrammetry techniques and innovative processing software producing industry standard aerial mapping outputs via photogrammetry technology.

Key details for the Corridor mapping operation were:

  • Mapped area – 2,200 hectares (22 square km)
  • Corridor Length – 20 kilometres
  • Mapping time – 92 minutes
  • Ground Sample Distance – 4.9cm
  • Images – 1900
  • Camera – 50 MP Full Frame Sensor

Outputs from the mapping operation included a orthorectified mosaic, digital surface model and an animated video

Our Aerial Mapping service can be applied across a range of industries and commercial sectors including mining, environmental, road and rail engineering, coastal and port infrastructure, industrial pipelines, local government and agriculture enterprises.

Below is an animated video produced from the 1900 vertical images as well as sample vertical images
